NEW YORK – January 27, 2010 – Apple announcement anticipation and lively debate about eBook pricing and building communities of readers were hallmarks of day two of Digital Book World, a new conference presented by F+W Media at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers. The conference closed with Guy Gonzalez, Director of Programming and Business Development, who announced the new Digital Book World community at www.digitalbookworld.com. "There are no magic beans, bullets, or short cuts for the issues and challenges we face," said Gonzalez in his closing. "There is a lot going on in our industry right now – too much to cover in two days – but we have the other 363 days of the year to work together." In addition to the annual conference, the Community offers seminars, Webcast series, and 7X20X21 (Pecha Kucha) events.
Digital Book World differentiated itself from other book publishing conferences by focusing on content for the trade book community and creating conversation among industry professionals. It delivered on the promise of providing a venue for conversation. Lively debates in-session and online addressed the highly charged topic of eBook pricing, growing audiences for imprints as well as authors, and marketing to the born digital generation.
The next Digital Book World event is a one-day intensive workshop: Digitize Your Career: Real World Skills for the Future on April 15th in New York City. Additional details will be available at the newly relaunched digitalbookworld.com website.
