| Description: | Job Summary Results-driven business leader to serve as Content Strategy Manager for F+W Media’s Writer’s Digest brand, responsible for content distributed through magazines, books, online education, events, and digital media. The CSM is responsible for developing and executing a strategic plan for content in collaboration with the Publisher and others in the writing community. The CSM will, in partnership with the Publisher, develop new products, both print- and online-based, and ensure that the quality of content meets community and corporate standards. Primary Job Responsibilities • Direct book acquisitions in both print and digital form; develop a program for long-form content that takes advantage of direct-to-consumer channels, proprietary opportunities, and digital-only releases. • Direct the re-use, repurposing, and repackaging of content across magazines, books, market guides, online education, events, and other media—to make most efficient use of our content and to maximize cross-promotional opportunities. • In collaboration with WOW manager, direct course/curriculum development for Writer’s Digest University, identify sources of curriculum (texts and freelancers), and ensure quality instructional material that will drive enrollment. • Collaborate with events team and Publisher on event programming and speakers; review event sessions/descriptions and work with speakers to ensure quality presentations. • Collaborate on re-purposing of community content in each magazine issue, and ensure cross-promotion of online education and digital media content in each issue. • Lead and participate in editorial marketing efforts (via social media, print channels, and online marketing messages) to sell products; assist in creation of marketing messages focused on writers across all channels. • Coach community members on developing great content, offering constructive feedback to authors/freelancers to improve content, and editing materials when other team members are unable. • Directly manage content editors/contributors as needed. |
| Requirements: | Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required, and 5+ years of hands-on editorial experience. • Excellent editorial skills with a passion for quality writing. • Experience in Web, multimedia and related formats. • Flexible, creative, and consistent work style; strong sense of accountability for all areas of work; demonstrated collaborative spirit and leadership ability. • Ability to think strategically, multi-task, be extremely well-organized, manage time effectively and identify resources for projects. • Ability to understand complex organizational structure and work through administrative systems. • Ability to work in both groups and individually to meet short-term and long-term goals and objectives.
