Through the publication of books and magazines, the hosting and management of ecommerce and vertical websites, and the production of in person and online conferences, F+W Media has become a leader in the passion focused markets it serves. The company is currently searching for a Marketing Director to lead the marketing effort in both trade and specialty retail sales channels for a 400+ title annual book program. This position will report directly to the President of F+W Media. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop the strategic vision for F+W Media’s book marketing program. Oversee marketing execution and the analysis of marketing metrics to decide upon new marketing and decisions to drive trade and specialty book sales. Develop marketing strategies, evaluate market conditions, and recommend policy changes to encourage maximum sales activity. Work in collaboration with President and VP of Sales to develop and direct the implementation of marketing strategies and achieve increased revenue objectives. Establish a roadmap to support company objectives to achieve sales goals through a quality marketing and publicity strategy. The roadmap would include an annual marketing calendar highlighting marketing deliverables to ensure accomplishment of community and corporate objectives. Marketing and publicity at F+W Media includes trade marketing, specialty retail marketing, national public relations, media planning, social media, and special events. Develop an effective, cutting edge national PR and social media marketing campaign and monitor ongoing testing of campaigns to continually improve results. Leverage and/or support authors for promotional benefit Leverage vertical channels for outreach. Create an integrated strategy that includes and maximizes eBooks and iPhone apps as well as books. Develop and manage the marketing budget. Ensure appropriate level of sell-through and co op support for primary retail promotions. Constantly measure the effectiveness of marketing programs and take on-going corrective actions as needed to reach sales and marketing objectives. Integrate sales needs and requirements in marketing plans and objectives to achieve forecasted sales growth resulting in increased visibility and improved financial results. Involvement from the point of acquisition to weigh-in on the marketing potential for books to help drive sell-in/sell-through. Work with President, Sales, Community Leaders to establish quarterly marketing plans, and report monthly results by individual community to enable informed future decision making. Key Metrics and Goals: Provides Strategic planning for all marketing initiatives - Develops strategy for trade and specialty marketing, publicity, online/social marketing, and retail catalogs - Develops marketing strategy aligned with enhancing sell through and reducing book returns - Tests new programs to find new and cost effective marketing techniques - Continually analyzes efficiencies of current marketing campaigns Budget Management - Brings budget in at or below target for 2010 - Reconciles monthly spend with budgeted spend - Analyzes how money should be allocated by campaign - Recommends best use of budget dollars Program Reporting - Ensures reporting is performed weekly and monthly - Publishes a monthly executive overview to President of results and recommended changes to improve performance in each campaign Effectively and efficiently manage and develop vendor relationships - Continually negotiate better pricing and rates - Continually monitor vendor performance and search for better relationships where inefficiencies exist |
| Requirements: | • Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience as a Marketing Director or Director of Marketing in the consumer products industry • Experience managing a full P&L • Entrepreneurial spirit, customer service focus, market knowledge • Consumer products marketing experience is required • Highly advanced national PR and social media marketing experience is required • Must have excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills • Bachelors Degree • Willing and able to travel as the job requires For immediate consideration, submit your resume, cover letter, and salary requirements to: careers2@fwmedia.com |
