| Description: | At Southwest Art magazine we are always happy to welcome interns who are seriously interested in learning more about magazine publishing. Southwest Art is a glossy monthly magazine targeted to art collectors and has been published since 1971. Our circulation is approximately 60,000 copies. Because we are a small company, an intern has numerous opportunities to contribute while gaining valuable knowledge and experience. In the editorial department, duties and responsibilities may include the following, depending on skills and experience: • Writing short items such as book reviews, calendar listings, etc. • Entering data for website projects • Sending responses to unsolicited submissions • Conducting research to support the editors • Soliciting review copies of new books Although internships are unpaid, successful interns will leave with a better understanding of how the publishing business works, a valuable experience to include on their resumes, and possibly a few bylines or published pieces to their credit. Interns will also be listed on the magazine’s masthead for the duration of their internship. |
