| Description: | Job Summary: Results-driven business leader to serve as Community Leader, as well as Publisher for F+W Media’s Crafts community. Position is responsible for leading the strategy, sales, marketing, and implementation in a broad array of media including distribution through the web, books, events and other mediums. The Community Leader is responsible for developing and executing each business's strategic plan. The Community Leader will work in collaboration with the Presidents of F+W Media and the rest of the Executive Committee where appropriate to develop, launch and grow brand extensions, new products and develop new markets for these brands. Extensive market knowledge, and commercially orientated editorial expertise, and business development and sales management are required. This position has the ability to work from a remote, home office with frequent travel as a requirement. Primary Job Responsibilities: /1/ To establish the community strategy to drive revenue and EBITDA growth. • Meet and/or exceed the budgeted goals for both revenue and contribution. • Create business plan to maximize product mix, content delivery and sales channels. • Ensure the general business climate, content creation plan, and specific market conditions are incorporated in to the overall strategic plan. • Actively identify and pursue new business growth opportunities including new product launches and acquisitions • Demonstrate and communicate with customers, partners, supervisors and staff a thorough understanding of the community – both consumer and marketplace. • Work collaboratively with other F+W executives and community leaders as well as HR, finance, accounting, and production, sharing and learning best practices. /2/ Financial Management • Prepare annual budgets with reference to long-term strategy, short-term realities, market conditions, and company guidelines. • Prepare and communicate quarterly financial forecasts • Effectively establish and manage budgeted overheads for all teams including product development and departmental expenses. /3/ Brand, eCommerce and Advertising Management • Plan appropriately to grow all revenue and profit streams – ecommerce, book sales, digital products, events, magazine revenue and all other product extensions. Develop new products, as appropriate, to expand these product lines into related markets • Actively serve as our products’ senior executive at trade shows, industry events and with key customers • Ensure the Ad Sales Director/field representatives are operating optimally for maximum revenue, market share, and profitability growth. • Manage and accountable for all sales metric: sales call volume, funnel management, forecasting, reporting, commission reconciliation, results • Coach Sales Manager/Reps to deliver UPS to all existing and new customers /4/ Publishing Program • Set vision for the book publishing program on a quarterly basis with President of F+W Media, covering subject, pricing policy and product development requirements • Ensure all titles (print and digital) are presented at the Publishing Board with required data. • Ensure that all titles are market savvy, meet financial goals and adhere to the production schedule. • Liaise with the VP of Sales and the relevant specialty sales reps to communicate the unique selling points and evidence of need. /5/ Marketing Management and Audience Development • Lead in the development and execution of targeted marketing programs and sales materials to drive consumer, retail customer and advertising revenue • Provide F+W senior executives with regular competitive analysis for all products within the community. • Develop timely, targeted market research for use by the editorial, sales and business development staff. • Through dynamic marketing of all products, work closely with the VP Book Sales, Circulation Director, Newsstand Director, Ad Sales Director and Online Product manager to reach or exceed sales and circulation targets. /6/ Editorial Management • Oversee the execution of products both print and digital to meet or exceed the consumers needs or requirements to drive profitable sales. • Effectively hire and manage staff to execute the vision of the line. /7/ Production Management • Work with the Production Managers to ensure high-quality, timely, cost-effective production and delivery of the magazines, books and Internet-based products Additional Responsibilities: • To promote ethical and professional standards among your staff • To encourage a positive attitude at work • Provide professional opportunities for staff with clear succession planning. • Must communicate clearly and frequently with staff, customers, consumers, and management. |
